Blending NonTraditional Marketing Communications Yields Better Results
Rawlings Gold Glove Award®

In 2007, Rawlings Sporting Goods is celebrating the 50th Anniversary of the Rawlings Gold Glove. Rawlings enlisted FH to create an anniversary campaign that would recapture equity of the brand's ownership of the famous Rawlings Gold Glove Award®, more commonly known as the "Gold Glove," that has been awarded annually to Major League Baseball® players for the past 50 years. FH developed an integrated marketing campaign that incorporated a new Web site, media relations, emerging media, retailers, cross-promotions, word-of-mouth marketing, high-profile events, investor relations, and celebrity spokespeople.

The result: Within two months of launching the program, baseball fans placed nearly 1 million votes for the All-Time Rawlings Gold Glove Team at RawlingsGoldGlove.com, via TXT messaging, and in-store at national sporting goods retailers. In addition, over 728,000 sweepstakes entries have been submitted as of April's end. Media coverage and activity on blog and message boards also continue as Fleishman-Hillard and Rawlings have only just begun to celebrate 2007 as "The Summer of Glove."

Office of National Drug Control Policy

At a time when traditional drug and health education programs are struggling to get the attention of teens, the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP)/National Youth Anti-Drug Media Campaign (campaign) challenged Fleishman-Hillard (FH) to create a new Web site for today's media-multitasking teens. The campaign introduced a new youth brand, "Above the Influence," in fall 2005, to engage youth who have been skeptical of and resistant to previous anti-drug messaging. Digital developed www.AbovetheInfluence.com, an interactive, "experiential" Web site to deliver drug information in a fun, relevant, and engaging way.

The result: AbovetheInfluence.com launched on Nov. 2, 2005, and has experienced almost 25 million visits to date. The site has been a hit with teens and has successfully engaged them in a new style of drug prevention education. It has also opened up an opportunity for teens themselves to become the messengers of this new brand and Web site as the unconventional design and message delivery has prompted them to blog about or post Above the Influence icons on their own Web pages. AbovetheInfluence.com was the winner of two Webby Awards in 2006 in the Youth and People's Voice award categories.
